It is one of the few places on the island where you can walk into the sea over sand rather than over coral rubble.
The reef starts close to shore and the water is calm most of the day, which makes this an easy snorkel for anyone who does not want a long swim out. A handful of trees give patchy shade and that is all — there is no beach bar and no toilet. Aircraft pass low overhead on approach, which is either the attraction or the reason to go elsewhere.
Come on a weekday morning if you want it quiet; at weekends locals arrive with barbecues and it becomes a party. There is no charge to use the beach. Reckon on an hour or two, longer if you are waiting for a particular landing.
