Bonaire is the one Caribbean island where you do not need a boat to see coral: the reef starts a few metres from shore at a dozen easy entries. A trip is worth paying for when it takes you somewhere you cannot walk to — Klein Bonaire above all, where the reef begins fifty metres from the sand and the visibility routinely runs past twenty metres. For everything within reach of the coastal road, a mask and a pair of water shoes will do.
