Your business is probably already in the guide

We compiled the guide ourselves, from public sources: your own website and social media, tourist information, published maps, and what we saw on the island. Nobody paid to get in and nobody paid to keep a competitor out.

We only publish what a visitor could already find in public — the name, what you do, roughly where you are, and the contact details you publish yourself. No private or internal business data, no pricing we were told in confidence, no photos we do not have the right to use.

The honest consequence of working this way is that some of it is wrong. Opening hours change, businesses move, a dive operator stops renting scooters, a phone number is retired. We have no way of knowing until someone tells us. Usually the person who knows first is you.

The map, the places and the directions sit on the visitor's phone. They download the app before they fly out and use it on the island without having to find a signal first.

That is the part that matters for you. Most of the decisions a visitor makes are made without a connection: where to eat tonight, which dive operator to call in the morning, where to pick up a rental car. They are in a car on a road with one bar of signal, or at a beach in the north with none at all. In that moment your website, your booking page and your social media are all unreachable. What is on the phone is the guide, with whatever we have written about you.

So the value here is not exposure in the advertising sense. It is that the version of your business people carry around is accurate. We would rather it were right, and you are the only one who can make it right.

We will not quote visitor numbers at you. We have them, they are modest, and a figure without context is worth nothing to someone deciding where to spend their time.

This is the most useful thing on this page. Tell us what is wrong and we will fix it in the next content update. No account, no login, no cost, and nothing to sign.

If you do not want to be in the guide, say so and we take you out. You do not have to give a reason and we will not try to talk you round.

One technical caveat, because it would be dishonest to leave it out: the app stores its content on the device so that it works offline. A removal goes live in the next content update, and visitors who do not update will keep an older copy on their phone for a while. It is not instant, and no offline guide can make it instant.

There is nothing on sale here off the shelf. No advertising slots, no sponsored ranking, no paid tier to upgrade to. Every listing in the guide is there because it belongs on the island, and no business has paid a cent for it.

We do earn something, and it is better you hear it here than find it out. Where a place also sells through a booking platform such as Viator, we link to it and receive part of that platform's commission. The visitor pays no more for it, and it has no bearing on who is listed or in what order — on about four out of five places in the guide there is nothing to earn at all. We would rather write that plainly than build a sales page on top of it.

Being listed is free and stays free. If you would like a more prominent placement, get in touch at info@beyondthebeach.app — there is no ready-made package and no price list, but we would rather have the conversation than pretend the question never comes up. What money never buys is a place in a route, or a better position in the guide: which places we pick, and in what order, stays an editorial call.

Two things we commit to. Anything paid says that it is paid, in words a visitor understands and not in small print. And a paid placement never moves an unpaid listing down: the ordinary listings keep their own order, whoever else is paying.
