About Seru Largu
A paved road runs to the top, so you can drive up in anything.
From the monument at the summit you look out over Kralendijk, the whole west coast and Klein Bonaire lying offshore, with the dry interior behind you. The concrete cross carries the Papiamentu inscription "Kristu Ayera, Awe i Semper" — Christ yesterday, today and forever — and the hill is still used for services at Easter.
Come at either end of the day; in the middle of it the view is flat and the heat on the bare hilltop is unpleasant. Sunrise puts the light on the town; sunset puts it behind Klein Bonaire and is the one most people come for, so expect company. After dark it is one of the darkest spots within reach of town and the stars are remarkable. Free, no facilities. Twenty minutes is enough.
