Museum Bonaire

Museum Bonaire is a natural history museum housed in a beautiful building dating back to 1885. For many years, the property belonged to the Herrera family, owners of the Slagbaai plantation. This family also ran a small shop from their home, selling goods to the local community. The building is also known as the Van der Ree House, a name that remains recognized today. Visitors can explore fascinating exhibits showcasing Bonaire’s natural history, cultural heritage, and colonial past. The museum offers a glimpse into the island’s unique biodiversity, geological formations, and the way of life on Bonaire throughout the centuries.
