About Rif Fort
Rif Fort was built in the nineteenth century to protect Willemstad’s harbor from incoming ships. At the time, this was a strategic location overlooking the entrance to the bay. Today, the thick stone walls remain, but the fort has taken on a new role. It has been carefully restored and now houses shops, cafés, and open spaces. Standing here, you can clearly see how Curaçao blends its defensive past with modern island life.
