Fort Amsterdam

Fort Amsterdam was built in 1635 by the Dutch and played a central role in the defense of Willemstad. Over time, the fort grew into the administrative heart of the island. Even today, government offices are located within its walls. The fort also includes a historic church, making this area both politically and culturally significant.
