About The Cadushy Distillery
It was set up in 2009 in the old Cinelandia cinema complex, and its signature bottle is a liqueur made from the cadushi, the tall columnar cactus that grows all over the island, with lime.
The visit is a tasting in the garden rather than a factory tour: old trees, loras and hummingbirds in the branches, and a run through the range, which includes a liqueur for each of the Dutch Caribbean islands. You can buy bottles on site, and it is the one thing on Bonaire that makes an obvious present to take home.
Check the opening days before driving up — Rincon is quiet and much of it is shut on Sundays. Tasting and tour are paid; walking into the garden and the shop is not. An hour to ninety minutes, and it fits with Mangazina di Rei on the same trip.
