About Van den Tweel
It is a Dutch chain, and that shows on the shelves: this is where you find the brands you know from home alongside the local produce.
For anyone renting an apartment it is the obvious first stop after landing. The range runs from fresh fruit and vegetables to a butcher, a fish counter, a bakery and a wide selection of wine and cheese. Prices on imported goods are noticeably higher than in the Netherlands — almost everything arrives by boat — but the choice is the widest on the island.
Open every day from eight in the morning until eight in the evening, Sundays included, which sets it apart from most shops here. There is parking in front. Reckon on half an hour for a weekly shop, and go early or after six if you want to avoid the cruise-day crowd.
