Ice Cream By John's

John makes the ice cream himself, and the flavours are the reason to come: avocado, tamarind, soursop and coconut alongside the ordinary ones. These are local fruits made into local ice cream, and you will not find them in the parlours in town. Everyone gets a small bottle of water with their order, which after the drive up is more welcome than it sounds.

Open Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 20:00, closed on Monday. Cash only — there is a cash machine across the street if you arrive without, but bring small notes and save yourself the walk. A cone costs a few dollars, less than you would pay for the same thing in town. Fifteen minutes for the stop itself, but treat it as part of a Rincon trip: combine it with the village, the Mangazina di Rei museum or a morning in Washington Slagbaai on the way back.
