About Salt Pier

Also under Dive sites

The pillars that carry the pier are the attraction: they run down to around twelve metres and are covered in sponge and coral, with schools of fish moving between them.

The light through the pillars is the reason underwater photographers keep coming back, and it is at its best in the middle of the day when the sun is high enough to reach under the structure. Turtles and eagle rays pass through regularly.

One rule matters more than any other here: do not enter the water when a ship is berthed. Loading is under way, the pier is off limits, and it is dangerous. Check from the road before you unpack. There is no charge beyond the nature fee. An hour in the water, ninety minutes with the drive.
