About Hilma Hooker
She is a freighter of some seventy metres, seized in 1984 with a false bulkhead full of marijuana, and sunk after the salvage costs outran her value.
The wreck lies on her starboard side between roughly eighteen and thirty metres, which puts the interesting part of her at depths that eat air quickly. This is not a first dive: plan a short bottom time, watch your gas, and take a torch — the hull throws deep shadow even at midday.
Go in the morning, when the visibility is at its best and you have the site to yourself; by mid-morning the boats arrive. Entry is from the shore and costs nothing beyond the nature fee. Reckon on a couple of hours for the dive, the walk in and the surface interval.
