As a lunch stop it works differently from the ice cream counter it is better known for: there is a proper breakfast from half past seven, sandwiches and light dishes through the middle of the day, and homemade cake with illy espresso in between. The tables face west over the water, and because the kitchen runs without a break you can eat here at two in the afternoon when most of the boulevard has closed between services.
Open every day from 07:30 to 23:00, which is the widest span on this stretch. Prices are café prices: a coffee and something to eat comes out well under what the restaurants either side charge. Half an hour for coffee, an hour for lunch. No reservation needed — walk in and take a table at the front.
