The pick-up is the point. Washington Slagbaai National Park in the north is reached over unpaved track, and a normal car is not advised there — some rental agreements exclude the park entirely. A pick-up also solves the other Bonaire problem: a wet dive kit and full tanks go in the open bed instead of in the boot of a car you are handing back next week. The fleet is nothing older than three years and runs from a Kia Picanto automatic to a Suzuki Jimny 4x4.

All cars come with air conditioning and full coverage, and the company can be reached around the clock. They deliver to the airport and to the resorts. Rent-and-do customers get ten per cent off a list of island activities. A compact car costs roughly forty dollars a day on Bonaire and a pick-up closer to fifty; there is usually a minimum rental period, so ask when you book. Most visitors take a vehicle for the whole stay rather than by the day — a week is the normal rental here, and the weekly rate is well below seven times the daily one. The handover itself takes about a quarter of an hour.
