About Kite Beach

It is the same shallow, wind-blown shore, and in practice the two names describe one place.

The attraction is the combination of standing depth far out and a steady cross-shore trade wind, which is a forgiving place to learn and a fast one once you can ride. Even if you do not kite, an hour watching from the shore is entertaining — this is where the island's better riders are.

Afternoons, when the wind fills in; mornings are usually too light. The wind is most reliable between roughly December and August. Free to walk onto; kite hire and instruction are not, and go through the schools based here. There is little shade and nothing for sale, so bring water. Reckon on half a day if you are riding, an hour if you are watching.
