About Landsailing Bonaire

The steady trade wind that makes this coast good for windsurfing does the same job on land.

You sit a hand's width above the ground in a three-wheeled cart with a sail, which is why thirty kilometres an hour feels like considerably more. The instruction takes ten minutes and then you are driving it yourself around a marked circuit; there is no previous experience needed and no swimming involved, which makes it one of the few activities here that works for people who do not want to get in the water.

It runs about two hours and costs from around sixty-five dollars. Afternoons have the strongest wind. Wear closed shoes and sunglasses — the dust comes up — and skip it if the wind has dropped, because a slow cart is no fun at all. Book ahead; there are only so many carts.
