Kayak Tour Through The Mangroves

It is the only way into the mangrove channels, which are protected and closed to motorboats.

You paddle a two-person kayak through channels barely wider than the boat, with a guide who stops to point out what lives in the roots: juvenile barracuda and snapper, upside-down jellyfish lying on the bottom, herons in the branches. The water is knee-deep and flat, there is no current, and no experience is needed — this works for children from about five.

Two lengths are offered. The hour-long trip leaves at eleven and costs around thirty dollars, twenty for children; the two-hour version goes at half past eight and half past two, costs around fifty, and includes snorkelling in the seagrass. Mornings are calmest. Closed Sundays. Book ahead in high season.
