Scooters Bonaire

Scooters Bonaire rents scooters, e-scooters, motorcycles, e-bikes and mountain bikes from Kaya Grandi 70-B in the centre of Kralendijk, and has been doing so for over ten years.

It is the widest range on the island, and the electric side of it is the reason to look here. An e-bike turns the coast road into an easy ride rather than a sweaty one — the distances on Bonaire are short but the sun is not, and the wind on the way back is against you more often than not. An e-mountain bike opens up the dirt tracks in the north that a scooter cannot manage and a golf cart is banned from.

A scooter costs around twenty-five to forty dollars a day, with helmets and a full tank usually included and a deposit of a hundred to three hundred dollars on a credit card. Eighteen and a car licence for the scooters; a motorcycle licence for the larger machines. Being on Kaya Grandi means you can walk here from most of town rather than driving to an industrial estate first, and picking up takes about a quarter of an hour once the paperwork is done. Most people take a scooter for two or three days rather than the whole stay — long enough for the dive sites and the south, and you are not paying for it on the days you are on a boat.
