Cuba Compagnie Bonaire

Cuba Compagnie is a restaurant and bar on Wilhelminaplein at Kaya Grandi 1, on the square in the centre of Kralendijk.

It is as much a night out as a meal. The kitchen is Cuban and Caribbean and the bar runs on rum and tropical cocktails, but the reason people put it in the diary is Thursday: Latin Night, with salsa, bachata and a floor that fills. There is live music at other times too, including a band on the last Sunday of the month.

Open every day from 15:00 to 22:00, with the kitchen from 17:00, and on Thursday the bar keeps going until half past one in the morning. Prices are moderate. An hour or two for dinner, an evening if you stay for the music — and if dancing is not what you came for, avoid Thursday and take a table on the square instead. Being on Wilhelminaplein puts it in the middle of everything, so it is a short walk from anywhere in the centre and there is no need for a car.
