About Kiteboarding Bonaire
Kiteboarding Bonaire is a kitesurfing school on Atlantis Beach, on the south-west coast about half an hour's drive from Kralendijk, and has been there since 2001 as the island's first.
Atlantis Beach is not one option among several — it is the only place on Bonaire where you may kitesurf. Everywhere else you must stay at least seventy-five metres offshore to protect the reef, and marine park rangers do patrol: fines run to five hundred dollars and equipment can be confiscated. Atlantis has a marked corridor that allows launching and landing from the beach, with the session itself outside the reef zone.
The wind blows fifteen to twenty-two knots on some three hundred days a year, side-offshore all day, and the season runs January to July with April to July the best of it. A three-hour discovery lesson costs around two hundred and ninety dollars and a three-day beginner course around six hundred and seventy, equipment included. Reckon on three hours for a lesson and most of a day if you are riding. Book ahead in peak season.
