About Cactus Blue
The lionfish burger is the reason to stop. Lionfish is an invasive species that divers here are encouraged to remove from the reef, and eating it is the point — few places on the island actually put it on a menu. Beyond that there are beef burgers, chicken and vegetable wraps, fresh juices and homemade sides, run by Thamara out of the truck itself.
Open Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 15:00, and when the day's food is gone it is gone — going late means going without. Cash is the safe assumption. Fifteen to twenty-five dollars a head. Half an hour to an hour, and the almond trees on the beach give the only real shade on this stretch of coast, which by midday is worth more than it sounds.
